The League of Women Voters of Greater Tuscaloosa is hosting a Northport Municipal Elections Candidate Forum on Tuesday, August 12, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be held at the Northport Community Center located at 2001 Park Street.

According to their Facebook post, they invite you to join them to “hear from candidates running to represent you. Candidates from the City Council and Mayoral races have been invited.

Additionally, the League of Women Voters has posted its rules for the Candidate Forum on its Facebook page.

  • No campaign materials allowed
  • No “empty chair” or one-person Q&A
  • All questions must be relevant to all candidates
  • Candidates do not get the questions in advance.
  • Voters can submit questions in advance to the LWVGT mailbox at lwvgt1@gmail.com or at the forum.
  • A panel of League members reviews advanced questions for clarity, accuracy, and applicability to all candidates.

The League of Women Voters of Greater Tuscaloosa said that “Each candidate will have 2 minutes to respond to each question. An appointed League member will hold up a warning sign at the one-minute mark.”
