80 years have passed since the death of 'The Father of Country Music', Meridian native son, Jimmie Rodgers.

In recognition of this milestone, the Jimmie Rodgers Museum has released a unique CD recorded in the Jimmie Rodgers Museum featuring his favorite guitar, the '000-45 Martin'.

Britt Gully and musicians recorded the CD inside the museum surrounded by Rodgers artifacts and performed the songs using Elsie McWilliams piano, and a microphone believed to have been used by Hank Williams.

Gully said remaining true to the 'original spirit' of Jimmie Rodgers music and wanted listeners to hear as close as possible the 'actual sound that made him so popular in his day' that continues after his death.

The CD is scheduled for release on Thursday, May 16th, at Dumont Plaza in Meridian at the kickoff party for the 60th anniversary of the Jimmie Rodgers Festival.
