Tuscaloosa City Council President Kip Tyner said some people were trapped inside the apartments as the fire spread and four were rescued by the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Service.

One was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, Tyner said.

Holly Whigham, a spokesperson for the Fire Department, said eight units were involved in the fire and 26 were affected with smoke and water damage. The cause is under investigation. She confirmed four people were rescued and did not immediately have information on the extent of their injuries.
