Northside Park Expands With New Playground
A growing part of Tuscaloosa County is getting a new place for families and kids to gather, play, and enjoy the outdoors.
The Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority will host an opening ceremony for a newly added playground at Northside Park on Wednesday, April 15 at 12 p.m. The park is located at 19325 Northside Parkway and has become a popular spot for families in the Northside and Samantha communities.
The new playground adds another layer to a park that already features open green space, a walking track, outdoor fitness equipment, a pavilion, picnic areas, and community storm shelters.
According to the press release, the addition of the playground helps fill a missing piece in the park’s overall design, creating a more complete space for both recreation and community connection.
Tuscaloosa County Commissioner Stan Acker, who has worked alongside PARA on the park’s development since 2012, says the goal has always been to build a space that serves families for years to come.

PARA CEO Brian Davis added that the new playground reflects the organization’s continued focus on providing high quality recreational spaces for residents, especially in fast growing areas of the county.
Northside Park sits between Walker Elementary School and Northside Middle School, making it a convenient and central location for local families.
