2026 Black History Maker of Alabama – Jacob Orr

Jacob Orr was named the assistant manager of creative services at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in February 2025. He helps lead and assist with all things creative for UAB Athletics. Before UAB, Orr was previously at The University of Maryland as a production assistant and as the On-Campus Multiplatform Video Producer/Editor with the Big Ten Network (BTN). He created and delivered year-round Maryland Athletics video content for BTN’s social, digital, and broadcast channels, performing pre/post video production. While also acting as BTN’s digital advocate within the department.
Black History means excellence, culture, perseverance, a celebration of the resilience of our ancestors. It’s a time to honor the past and look forward to the future. We have to recognize the contributions, culture, and leadership that have shaped our world, often without credit, and using those lessons to push for equity, understanding, and progress today. - Jacob Orr

Orr began his career in broadcast production working with Crimson Tide Productions, the multimedia component of the University of Alabama Athletic Department. He assisted with the execution of live broadcasts and video board productions for a multitude of events, and the creative shooting team.
