SEC Picks: Will Alabama and Georgia Clinch?

Last week I went 6-2 and should not have gone out on the Jax State limb but did.

My season record is now 20-4.

Vanderbilt (2-8, 0-6 SEC) at South Carolina (3-6, 1-5 SEC) 11 AM CT Columbia, S.C. Williams-Brice Stadium

This is too bad teams, but newsflash: Vandy is worse. The Gamecocks are unlikely to make a bowl, but should get this much-needed win for coach Shane Beamer, 31-10.

Tennessee (7-2, 3-2 SEC) at Missouri (7-2, 3-2 SEC) 2:30 p.m. CT • CBS Columbia, Mo. • Faurot Field

This is the hardest pick to make of the week. It could literally go either way. For Strength of Schedule purposes, Alabama needs Tennessee to win. Based on that and a gut feeling, I'm going with the Vols 24-20 in a tight one.

Auburn (5-4, 2-4 SEC) at Arkansas (3-6, 1-5 SEC) 3 p.m. CT • SEC Network Fayetteville, Ark. • Reynolds Razorback Stadium

Auburn is playing better now that Peyton Thorne is getting most of the reps behind center. Arkansas upset Florida in OT last week. Auburn is only one win shy of bowl eligibility and I think the Tigers get it in a squealer [like a pig], 27-21.

Ole Miss (8-1, 5-1 SEC) at Georgia (9-0, 6-0 SEC) 6 p.m. CT • ESPN Athens, Ga. • Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium

Every now and then Lane Kiffin pulls one of these type games out of his rear but this ain't the week and Kirby ain't the one. Georgia wins at home to clinch the East, 45-27.

Florida (5-4, 3-3 SEC) at LSU (6-3, 4-2 SEC) 6:30 p.m. CT • SEC Network Baton Rouge, La. • Tiger Stadium

Where is good old Ed Orgeron when you need him? In his voice: "Geaux Tiguhs." LSU is smarting after Bama eliminated them from SEC title hopes, and they have too much talent to lose two straight. LSU wins, 45-24.

Mississippi State (4-5, 1-5 SEC) at Texas A&M (5-4, 3-3 SEC) 6:30 p.m. CT • ESPN2 • Bryan-College Station, Texas • Kyle Field

Of these two mediocre team, the Aggies have both more talent and the 12th Man going for them at home. Jimbo will get them bowl-eligible with a 38-17 win. Even so, Oil Money ain't happy.

Alabama (8-1, 6-0 SEC) at Kentucky (6-3, 3-3 SEC) 11 AM CT • ESPN/Tide 110.9, 95.3 The Bear, 1230 AM WTBC • Lexington, Ky. • Kroger Field (61,000)

Alabama has a commanding 38-2-1 series lead and it will only grow Saturday. The Cats will put up a fight but in the end the Tide grooms the kitties and clinches the SEC West, 38-17.
