Iamaleava is considered the No. 4 quarterback and the No. 7 player in the 2023 class making him a highly sought after recruit. In fact, the 6-foot-5 quarterback is the highest rated quarterback prospect to choose the Vols since Peyton Manning in 1994.
Former Alabama defensive back Brandon Turnage has announced on his Instagram this week that he would change his plans and join the Tennessee Volunteers. Turnage had previously stated he was going to enroll at the University of Georgia but changed his plans after the Bulldogs acquired former Clemson cornerback Derion Kendrick.
Last week the University of Tennessee made the decision to fire head football coach Jeremey Pruitt amid several recruiting allegations that have overshadowed the program. Additionally Phillip Fulmer resigned from his position as athletic director, leaving holes in two leadership positions for the Vols to fill. Tennessee moved quickly and hired Danny White to be the new athletic director and this morning it has named Josh Heupel as the new head football coach.
Alabama takes on Tennessee this Saturday as the two schools renew their annual rivalry. The Crimson Tide is riding high on a four game winning streak after defeating Georgia last season 41-24. The Vols are looking to bounce back after losing its last two games to SEC East opponents Georgia and Kentucky.
Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt told the media today that the NCAA approved the appeal for immediate eligibility for highly touted transfer offensive lineman Cade Mays. Mays transferred form the University of Georgia to the University of Tennessee this spring after starting the last two seasons for the Bulldogs.
