
Government Shut Down Hits Alabama Families Hard
Who knows when the government shutdown is going to end?

It seems like the two sides get further and further apart every day in the meantime, it continues to impact citizens in Alabama and across the USA.
News came on Tuesday pointing out that over 40 million Americans are on some type of food assistance.
Maybe that should be what lawmakers discuss and work on fixing as soon as possible.
All of this could not come at a worse time as the holiday month of November is just a couple of days away.
We could see a very difficult holiday season for many in Alabama this year.
Officially snap benefits have been halted for the month of November as they typically hit card holders on the first day of each month.
According to the Alabama Department of human resources, snap benefits, or food stamps will not be available on November 1.
Alabama Department of human resources figures say this will affect over 750,000 people in Alabama this month.
Many food banks are doing all they can to prepare for an onslaught of new folks in Alabama with no other alternative.
Food banks are asking for any individuals with the means to donate food or money to please reach out and make contact with your local food bank.
This holiday season could find lots of families in Alabama with bare cupboards.
In addition to individuals that could be impacted the federal shut down also stands to hurt grocery stores, especially in rural or small towns who depend on capital SnAP dollars.
