This may very well be one of the strangest things I've seen in a while but I think it's cool and may want to try it when I'm dead and gone.

The debate over burial vs. cremation goes on and I'm not meaning to start that up again with this post but I think this is cool.

When my time comes, I plan to be cremated. I've told people that in the past and some people don't care but some ask, "Why?" Well basically, I see no need in taking up space inside our earth. I wouldn't consider myself a "tree-hugger" but I respect the land we live on and what it has given to us. I won't know anything about taking up space nor will I probably care when my spirit leaves this vessel anyway.

When it is time, I think this would be cool. It's called the Bios Urn. According to their website, "The Bios Urn reintroduces the human being to the natural circle of life. Bios is a mortuary urn made from biodegradable materials: coconut shell, compacted peat and cellulose. Inside it contains the seed of a tree. Once the urn is planted, the seed germinates and begins to grow."

Once planted, the urn will begin to produce a tree. The process bbegins because human ashes are a good source of phosphorus and serves as fertilization for the tree. Ashes also raise the pH of soil.

So, when your time is up, consider becoming the tree that someone will hopefully hug one day!
