Could There Be a Chance of Snow in Portions of Alabama Later On?
Severe weather struck portions of Alabama last night and continued into the early morning hours of Tuesday. As the system progresses out of the state, the rest of the day is expected to bring cloudy skies, gusty winds, and a drop in temperatures, with the northern half of the state seeing readings in the 40s.
Severe Weather and Then Snow?
Stranger things have happened, and there is a possibility for some communities to receive a taste of winter.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said a “disturbance rotating around a deep upper trough will have the potential to squeeze out some light rain or even snow flurries or snow showers over the northern third of Alabama late this afternoon and early tonight.”
In the event of snowfall, temperatures are anticipated to remain above freezing, minimizing any potential impact. However, there may be a chance of light accumulation on grassy surfaces in areas with higher terrain where heavier snow showers occur.
