CFB Rankings: New Faces In Top 10
Through week four of the 2021 college football season, turnover has been a recurring trend in the AP Top 25 rankings.
The SEC still has a solid hold of the top-25 with seven of its members ranked through four games. Four of those teams now make up the top-10 as we head into conference play.
1. Alabama, 4-0 (1546)
The Crimson Tide reached its 100th consecutive win over unranked opponents with a 63-14 win over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles (1-3). Alabama moves on to a tough home matchup with No. 12 Ole Miss (3-0) in Tuscaloosa, AL, on Oct. 2.
2. Georgia, 4-0 (1492)
Georgia completely blanked the Vanderbilt Commodores (1-3) with a 62-0 win in Nashville, TN. The Bulldogs look to keep the season perfect at home next week with a matchup against No. 8 Arkansas (4-0).
3. Oregon, 4-0 (1411)
The Ducks started slowly in their late-night 41-19 win over the Arizona Wildcats (0-4). Oregon had a much stronger second half with 17 points in the fourth quarter and heads to Stanford (2-2) for week five.
4. Penn State, 4-0 (1283)
After starting out the COVID-impacted 2020 season 0-4, Penn State and HC James Franklin are building the case for a "bounce-back" year in 2021. With two top-25 wins under their belt, the Nittany Lions now look forward to a winnable home matchup with Indiana (2-2) in week five.
5. Iowa, 4-0 (1277)
The Hawkeyes have also already claimed two top-25 wins, but face a tough test next week on the road against Maryland (4-0) and emerging star QB Taulia Tagovailoa.
6. Oklahoma, 4-0 (1212)
Oklahoma and preseason Heisman hopeful QB Spencer Rattler dropped two spots in the rankings this week after a 16-13 nail-bitter at home against the West Virginia Mountaineers. They make the trip to Manhattan, KS, in week five to face Kansas State (3-1) for their second Big-12 game of 2021.
7. Cincinnati, 3-0 (1154)
The Bearcats are moving on to a big test in game four after holding on for a 38-24 road win over Indiana (2-2) this weekend. They'll travel to South Bend, IN, to take on No. 9 Notre Dame (4-0) at 1:30 p.m. CST.
8. Arkansas, 4-0 (1094)
The Razorbacks have emerged as an SEC darkhorse since naming Sam Pittman head coach and jumped up eight spots into the top-10 after their 20-10 win over No. 7 Texas A & M (3-1). College football fans should get a good gauge of their progress this week as they make the trip to Athens, GA for an SEC showdown with No. 2 Georgia (4-0).
9. Notre Dame, 4-0 (1076)
Notre Dame moved up three spots before week five due to their 41-13 handling of No. 18 Wisconsin (1-2) in South Bend, IN. They'll have another top-25 "gut check" game this week as HC Luke Fickell and No. 7 Cincinnati (3-0) tries to keep their season perfect on the road.
10. Florida, 3-1 (1019)
The Gators move up one spot - back into the top-10 - after a 38-14 victory over Tennessee (2-2) in The Swamp. Florida's first SEC road game of 2021 comes this week as they travel to Lexington, KY to face Kentucky (4-0).
