New Animals Arriving In Alabama’s Birmingham Zoo
Taking my grandkids to the zoo is one of my favorite things on the planet.

It's so cool to see their reaction to all these amazing creatures we rarely see in our lifetime.
I love the zoo. Except for that one time.
We made the trip to Washington, DC, to go to the famous zoo in the nation's capital.
I've never walked that far and that much in my entire life. It was several miles from our hotel, and on top of that, none of the animals we wanted to see were there to see!
That was an experience I do not want to repeat.
I've also found that you don't need to travel hundreds of miles to some famous zoo when you have a great zoo in your backyard.
The Birmingham Zoo is great and right in our backyard.
General Admission for adults is $24, and children 2-12 are $19.
The Birmingham Zoo has some news today about new animals arriving.
Get ready to welcome Sandy the Binturong.
Sandy is a seven-year-old male from a zoo in Chicago.
These animals are often called "bearcats" and they smell like buttered popcorn due to a special scent gland. How about that for a fun fact?
GET READY FOR THE NEXT ADDITION
What a cool animal.
We're getting a sloth. We are getting Coconut the sloth, actually.
The sloth is so incredibly fascinating to watch.
They move so slowly it's insane, and that includes when they are trying to mate.
This new sloth at the Birmingham zoo is around seven years old as well.
They can be seen as of today, and what a great addition to the zoo.
