It's simply harder when it is a few days away from Christmas.

This story has left many of us with more questions than answers.

A fatal traffic crash that killed two family members and left a third in critical condition.

A grandparent who was living with the family members who were killed and seriously hurt in that crash.

That same grandparent, John Elton Bailey, was arrested and charged for failing to report a child was missing.

Now, investigators have swarmed the home that baby Kahleb Collins was living in with search dogs and tools needed to search every inch of the property.

In addition, law enforcement is also searching the surrounding area of the home in Winfield, Alabama.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency officers tell us they know the child was last seen in public on September 4th.

However, a strange message was posted on the father's, Steven Collins's, Facebook account on November 6.

The message stated that his "son was not doing well" and asked that people "keep him in their prayers".

At that point, according to police, he had already been missing for two months.

As investigators continue to peel back the layers of this strange case nothing seems to add up.

I exchanged messages with a family member late yesterday who did not want to be interviewed.

That family member told me that her spouse was the one who reported that Kahleb was missing.

That person also told me that everyone in the family is "mentally exhausted" and that they "don't play when people hurt kids".

Multiple national outlets have recently picked up this story from Fayette, Alabama.

Above all else, the nation and this community want to know what happened to baby Kahleb Rowan Collins.

Calls to lead investigator Branndon Collins have not been returned before this article was published.

As this story develops, we will have frequent updates on the latest information available.
