Nick Saban has set expectations high since he first arrived on January 3, 2007. His process has brought six national championships to the Capstone during his tenure as head coach.

However, the national championship and CFP have been heartbreaking for Alabama fans recently, losing to Georgia in the 2022 championship game, 33-18, and not making the playoffs at all the next year.

Kirk Herbstreit was a recent guest on the Pat McAfee show, and when asked by McAfee about Kirby Smart taking Nick Saban’s place Herbstreit replied, “Be really careful of listening to 'Oh, David Pollack said it’s a new...’ that’s right when Alabama comes back and just throws their trump card down and whips everyone’s... I haven’t even really like dug in, I’m already leaning to Alabama to win the national championship."

“Just when you f—ing say ‘Nick’s done, Alabama’s done, Kirby...’ goodbye. Here comes Alabama, they’re going to win it all."

He went on to say “So if I’m betting right now, I don’t even know what it says in Vegas, I’m betting Alabama to win the national championship... at this point it’s guaranteed. We’ll see with injuries and what happens, but do not sleep on Bama.”
