An Open Letter to the Angel Who Touched My Heart in Tuscaloosa
With all of the stress that comes with daily adult life in Alabama, it can be hard to remember to lift others up.

Paying bills, making sure budgets are right, self care, maintaining friendships, checking in with family, kids, and let's not forget finding the time to actually go further in life rather than just maintain. It's a lot to handle on the brain.
With that said, a quick trip to the store could be the best mental break of the day. Its an added bonus that the trip was for my children.
I recently took my kids on an age appropriate lavish shopping spree in Alabama. I walked them into the store and told them, "You each can get 4 things out of this store. It doesn't matter what it is!"
Their faces lit up with shock, then immediate excitement.
After they rattled through the toys to find their items, I surprised them and said," You can each get one more!"
As we're in line checking out, I noticed the gentlemen who was in front of me stepped to the side but never left the register. I didn't think much of it but I definitely wondered what was going on.
The cashier read me my total and as I'm pulling out my card I hear someone say," Sir...!"
You know how you hear something but you tune it out cause it has nothing to do with you? I did that the first time he spoke up and I caught him speaking the second time.
I looked over and he stood there looking at me. As he held his bags he said,"I got it. don't worry about it."
I stood there with the same shocked face my children had when we walked into the store. I was in disbelief. In this moment I said what something I sometimes frowned at others for saying when someone volunteers to help them. "Thank you!...Are you SURE?!"
He nodded yes and smiled. A woman who was with him also smiled the most genuine smile I've seen in a while.
I grabbed the bags and walked out as they held the door for my children and myself.
This reminded me that no matter our situation, no matter how stressed we are, we have to remember to reach back and help someone else. It doesn't have to be grand. That age appropriate shopping spree was at the dollar store! The bill wasn't that high. It's the gesture and intent behind it that outweighs all.
This is called impact. You can positively impact someones's life by the slightest gesture and I feel like we should all do this often.
To the gentlemen and the lady who positively impacted my life in Tuscaloosa. I simply want to say thank you. I pray that God continues to bless you all for your heart.
