Well, just talk to someone who had a life-saving experience with a local first responder.

Now, we can put our money where our mouth is and give back to our first responders.

Who is invited?

Police, firefighters, EMT/Rescue crews, nurses, doctors, dispatchers, and anyone who works for one of those local departments.

Now, let's get to the details.

Jheovany Gomez is the owner of several great Tuscaloosa restaurants.

In 2019, Gomez and the morning crew at WFFN-FM (95.3 The Bear) radio talked and an idea was born.

Mr. Gomez's personal experience with first responders truly impacted his life.

So, he wanted to give back to Alabama first responders.

On the last Wednesday of each month, Jalapeno's Restaurant at 1845 New Watermelon Road in Tuscaloosa offers ALL first responders free lunch from 11 am to 1 pm. It's sponsored by Taylor Electrical of Tuscaloosa.

Many in West Alabama, on social media, refer to this monthly free luncheon at Jalapeno's Restaurant as the "safest place in West Alabama" with the packed dining room full of police officers.

If you know a first responder make sure you spread the word. If you would like to show your appreciation and thank our local first responders this would be a great opportunity to do it.

Free lunches for so many cost a pretty penny.

This contributor hopes that folks throughout West Alabama will let Jheovany Gomez know how much his act of kindness is valued in our community.
