As a fan of our fine restaurants, the one thing that truly disturbs me is a "roach infestation" or a "rodent infestation" for that matter. I am the one that is contacted every couple of months with new information directly from the Alabama Department of Public Health. This time, in addition to looking at the places with a roach problem, we will ALSO highlight some of the places in West Alabama with the BEST and HIGHEST health scores.
Several comments on social media also mentioned the salad bar with the famous "block of cheese" that you could grab a slice from. A sign posted on the Southland door hints at a possible return one day down the road, but no firm date was given.
I can not handle a roach at my favorite eating establishment in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This breaks my heart. One of my absolute FAVORITE restaurants was CLOSED DOWN recently because of a "roach infestation" according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.
We love our local businesses, especially our local eateries. Recently, I wrote a story on local restaurants (as well as others across Alabama) and the latest scores from the Health Department. Many restaurants were mentioned, but The Blue Plate in Northport got the most attention.
