Our attention is focused on an incoming active weather system expected to impact our area on Sunday, with all modes of severe weather possible.

Risk Zones

The Storm Prediction Center has nearly the entire state of Alabama under some level of severe weather risk. The entire Townsquare Media Coverage Area is under a slight risk for Sunday, April 6.

Concerning Threats

  • Isolated tornadoes
  • Damaging winds up to 60mph
  • Hail up to quarter size

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said, “The main concern will come from hail and strong, gusty winds. But, with the slower progression across the state, the air could become unstable over the southern counties by Sunday afternoon, where a tornado or two will be possible.”

Timeline

The overall timing of the incoming system will start “Sunday at 1 a.m. and last through 4 p.m.,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
