Tuscaloosa Billboard Sends Controversial Message To Area Drivers
When you are one of the marquee schools in the South, everything you do is up for debate.

At the intersection of University Boulevard and Peter Bryce Boulevard, a billboard openly criticizing student wages at the University of Alabama is visible.

It was purchased by the United Campus Workers of Alabama.
The message reads "Welcome to Alabama's flagship institution...where legends aren't paid'.
The goal is to see the minimum campus wage raised to $20 an hour.
If attention is what they are trying to get, then mission accomplished.
They want that attention to translate into a better bottom line.
The UCWA held a rally on campus earlier today to demand higher wages.
A petition was also circulated and submitted to UA President Peter Mohler, demanding a $5,000 cost-of-living adjustment.
Much has also been made of the University's endowment, which currently sits at $1.4 billion.
The University of Alabama maintains that its employees are its most important resource.
They also say they have already made multiple investments in the faculty, staff, and student compensation.
