Alabama Provides Update on Saban’s Health
Alabama head football coach Nick Saban tested positive for COVID-19 putting his status in doubt for Saturday's contest with No. 3 Georgia in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Saban began his quarantine on Wednesday and was evaluated today by team physician Dr. Jimmy Robinson. The Alabama Athletic Department provided an update on the legendary coach.
Thus far the coach appears to be asymptomatic but the doctors will continue to monitor him. He is being tested again today, tomorrow and Saturday with the hopes that he may have received a false positive test.
Saban has worked remotely from him house since receiving the news of the positive test. He watched yesterday's practice via Zoom and coached by well of cell phone. He attended his normal weekly meetings with players and coaches through Zoom and will continue to do so until his quarantine period is over.
Saban is one of two confirmed cases in the Alabama Athletic Department along with Athletic Director Greg Byrne. At this time there are no Crimson Tide players who have tested positive.
Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian has been tabbed to fill in for Saban on Saturday if no arraignments can be made that would accommodate Saban coaching himself. Sarkisian has handled the in-office duties that Saban normally handles.
