Well, the swearing was evident yesterday with multiple new Alabama politicians being sworn in across the state.

The Northport, Alabama Mayor and city council were sworn in and new City Council president Jamie Dykes delivered a moving speech on unity and leadership.

I spoke with several people who attended and they all spoke about how they were moved by the change in direction towards a more inclusive and positive environment in Northport politics.

Hopefully there will be more of that spirit in 2026.

However, that spirit is not evident in Cowarts, Alabama, well once again there was drama with city leaders, and it was all caught on video.

What is it with these small rural towns in Alabama having more drama than any big city officials?

Mobile is famous for drama among average citizens, but the city leaders seem to keep it together.
