Alabama Basketball Signee Requests Release From NLI

The Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program is on the rise after finishing the 2020-21 season as the No. 5 ranked team in the country. Head coach Nate Oats is on a roll amassing the No. 3 overall recruiting class for the upcoming school year and he just recently brought in two well regarded transfers in Nimari Burnett and Noah Gurley.

Due to Alabama being over the scholarship limit, incoming recruit Langston Wilson has requested to be released from his National Letter of Intent in order to re-open his recruitment.

Wilson is a JUCO, 4-star forward out of Georgia Highlands College. He stands at 6-foot-9 and he is rated the top JUCO forward in the upcoming class.  While his departure from the 2021 class will hurt the Tide's recruiting ranking it may be exactly what Alabama needed. Nate Oats is still one scholarship over the NCAA limit of 13 even after Wilson's exit.

In 19 games Wilson made three starts for the Georgia Highlands Chargers, he averaged 9.6 points per game while shooting 29% from beyond the arc, additionally he came down with 7.7 rebounds per game.

Wilson is originally from Upper Darby, Pennsylvania and attended Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast (Bonner-Prendie) Catholic High School in Drexel Hills before his time in Georgia. Due to a childhood diagnosis of Marfan syndrome, Wilson was kept out of competitive basketball until he reached college. Langston is the son of Ron Wilson, who also has Marfan syndrome and played for Villanova in the mid-90s along with a career touring with the Harlem Globetrotters.
