When I was younger and picking a college to further my education, the prime concern was how many parties went on each week. Now, looking back, I should have been looking at which school would benefit me financially in the long run.

This may be hard to believe, but not all universities keep the highest standards and some do not benefit their students when it comes to benefits versus the cost of attending the institution. Two universities ranked on the list of worst universities can be found right here in Alabama, according to avocadopost.com.

University of Montevallo

The University of Montevallo, which was ranked at 46 on the list, is struggling with its completion rate versus tuition cost. The completion rate is less than 50% and the average student debt is over $25k. The average salary for a Montevallo graduate is just over $38k. Looking at debt versus benefit, you may want to look at other education options.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is ranked at No. 35 by Avocado.com on the list of worst universities in the country. I have to be honest, this one caught me by surprise. The completion rate at UAB is only 55% of its student body. The issue of property being stolen and safety concerns were also a factor in UAB making the list. However, UAB’s medical program may be its saving grace when a potential student looks at attending school there.
