The Townsquare Media Weather Center is keeping an eye on the weather as a frontal boundary is set to bring thunderstorms to the area early Saturday morning, with more storms expected to form in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham also adds that there “could be additional activity Saturday night into Sunday morning, though confidence is low.”

The Storm Prediction Center has placed some counties under a “Marginal Risk.”

The counties in West Alabama included are Fayette, Lamar, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.

Timeline for West Alabama Counties

Fayette: 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

Lamar: 3 a.m. – 7 a.m.

Pickens: 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Tuscaloosa: 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Walker: 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Threats

During the first wave, the main threats are damaging winds up to 60 mph, hail up to quarter size.

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
