One of Tuscaloosa's most beloved restaurants has found a new place to call home.

Ichiban Japanese Grill, most known for their affordable bento boxes and killer sushi selection, announced via Facebook that they will be moving to the space formerly occupied by Real & Rosemary on University Boulevard in downtown Tuscaloosa.

The restaurant's owners were facing a quick eviction from their original spot at the corner of 15th Street and Hackberry Lane, as that space is being cleared for an upcoming development. However, despite their temporary closure, Ichiban was still able to gain the public's love and support by winning 95.3 The Bear's 2021 Munch Madness restaurant bracket competition.

The restaurant will now be nearby neighbors with other local favorites like Steel City Pops, Taco Mama and World of Beer. There was no indication of when a grand opening will be, though Ichiban's owners urged its readers to stay connected to their Facebook page for updates and news regarding the move.

"We are so very excited for everyone to see what NEW Ichiban will look like!!!!!" the post read. "Please continue to follow us on Facebook for all the exciting news we will post on here!!!"

The Tuscaloosa Thread will publish updates on the goings-on of Ichiban as they are made available. Stay connected here for more.
