Mounted atop Red Mountain in Birmingham, Alabama is the statue of the God of the Forge, also known as Vulcan. Not only does he have an interesting history but he also boasts a rather large behind.

Standing at 56 feet high and weighing 120,000 pounds, Vulcan was created in 1904 and is the largest cast iron statue in the world. It is meant to remind the people of Birmingham of the rich industrial background the city used to exhibit. But, when one looks at the sculpture, it is hard to think of iron and steel when staring at a massive derriere.

Although Vulcan was once banned from being in the public eye, he is now the focal point of Birmingham, right smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt.
