Thursday marked six years since the EF-4 tornado swept through Tuscaloosa taking 53 lives with it and forever changing the city and its people.

If someone didn’t know about the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa in 2011, they wouldn’t think twice or even question if it happened driving around our city today.

16 Years ago, on this date in 2000 an EF4 tornado tore through southern Tuscaloosa, killing 11 and injuring more than 100 people.  Nine of the fatalities occurred in mobile homes, and James Spann tells reminds us today the tornado was on the ground for a total of 18 miles in Tuscaloosa County...

University of Alabama student Randy Robbins was in the direct path of the tornado and was among the walking injured who made their way to DCH Regional Hospital.

Five years after the devastating tornado brought Tuscaloosa to her knees, the University of Alabama reflects on the progress our community has made since April 27th, 2011.

Just a few minutes after 5 pm on April 27, 2011, I stepped outside of our Skyland Blvd. offices to get a look at the weather. What I captured was more than a thunderstorm.

On one hand, it doesn't seem like it's been four years but on the other, it seems like a lifetime ago. Regardless, it feels like it happened in a dream, or rather, a nightmare.
