Study Reveals Alabama Has The 2nd Best Unemployment Recovery Rate

We're officially one year into this pandemic and we've finally got more good news in Alabama. The unemployment recovery rate for the state is the 2nd best in the nation.

There is no doubt that COVID-19 has impacted not just Alabama, but our whole nation. Millions of people were laid off from their jobs and didn't know how they were going to take care of their families and themselves.

Do you remember this time a year ago in Alabama? I remember vividly writing a story about Alabama's COVID-19 numbers. They seem so small in comparison to where they are now. Last March, COVID-19 numbers reached 981 statewide according to The Alabama Department Of Public Health. Tuscaloosa County now had 29 confirmed cases. Just 29 cases in T-Town?! Wow!

Also around this time last year, Governor Kay Ivey announced statewide business closures. It's no doubt that these closures ultimately caused people to lose their jobs.

Wallet Hub recently conducted a study to find out which state's unemployment rate in the U.S has bounced back the most. To determine which state was the best and worst, Wallet Hub examined 50 states as well as the District of Columbia based on five key metrics that compare unemployment rate statistics from the latest month for which we have data (February 2021) to key dates in 2019 and 2020.

After looking at the numbers, Alabama ranked 2nd among the states with the most improved unemployment rate! Can you tell the state's unemployment rate has improved?
