Gimme My Memaw Money!
This week Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced her plan to buy votes…
Er – that’s – give back to Alabamians. In the form of a stimulus check!
“The rebate is not taxable for Alabama income tax purposes," according to the governor's office.
"There is no income threshold requirement. The refund is based on the taxpayer’s filing status for the 2021 income tax return. $400 for single, head of family and married filing separate and $800 for married filing jointly.”
So... WHO IS GETTIN’ PAID?
Folks who filed taxes in 2021 qualify.
But there are other stipulations:
If approved, it would take the state 60-90 days to cut the checks.
AND…
Lawmakers must approve the funds first. (Hurry UUUUUUP!!)
The governor is asking lawmakers to ok the sweet, sweet stimulus money to offset inflation.
I'll take it, I am for sale!
I am sold! To the lady in Montgomery!
NOW GIMME MY ME-MAW MONEY!
