Labor Day is already a distant memory to many but for hundreds of Confederate and Union Troop re-enactors, the holiday is another opportunity to remind Alabamians of the 'September Skirmish' that occurred during the Civil War.

Each year, over 800 actors in authentic military uniforms stage daily battles with mounted cavalry and marching troops for those who have traveled from all over the country to the three-day celebration. Vendors portraying the role of camp followers who sold provisions to the troops during the war, exhibit Civil War relics and barter or sell handmade crafts.

This event is held at Point Mallard in Decatur, Alabama and is hosted by the 13th Alabama Partisan Rangers and the 6th Alabama Cavalry and admission is free.
