
Marginal Severe Risk Brings Threat of Damaging Winds to West Alabama
West Alabama residents can expect active weather this afternoon and into the evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed portions of Alabama under a “Marginal Risk” for severe thunderstorms.

Potential Impacted Areas
These strong to severe storms are forecasted to impact the northwest half of Central Alabama and include nearly the entire Townsquare Media listening areas.

Perry – almost the entire county

Sumter
Tuscaloosa
Walker
Possible Threats
The National Weather Service in Birmingham said that the main threat is “damaging winds with gusts up to 60 mph.”
James Spann, Alabama Weather Network and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said that with “very limited instability and weak dynamics, we just don't expect any real problems, although some thunder is possible.”
Rain Outlook
The northern half of the state can expect 0.5 to 1 inch of rain
The southern counties can expect lighter totals, mostly under .25 inch
