The Extreme Heat Warning indicates that dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of up to 110 are expected. This has been issued by the National Weather Service in Birmingham and is in effect until Tuesday, July 29, at 9 p.m.

The warning impacts the following West Alabama counties: Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker.

Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
