The Northport Police Department is offering classes for Teens to instruct them on the basic functions and operations of the police department. Cadets will also learn of the dangers related to drugs, social media, physical health and the importance of self-discipline.

Instructors will include Northport Police staff, Federal Law interns, West Alabama Narcotics Task Force and Criminal Investigation Division.Community Relations Officer Carrie Baker said the diversity in instructors will be beneficial by teaching them skills that will keep them, their families and their community safe.

Classes will be offered beginning Monday, June 22nd, 2015 at the Northport Police Department. Availability is limited so reservations are suggested.

Officer Baker said each day's classes will begin 'promptly' at 8:00 am and end at 4:00. Selected attendees will receive a Junior Police Academy t-shirt which will be required worn each day.
