BE ALERT: New Alabama Laws Taking Effect In 2025
With the new year almost here, there will be plenty of things changing in Alabama. In the 2024 legislative session for Alabama, there were a whopping 1,229 bills introduced. During the session, only 652 of those were completed.
Within those bills, some included the topics of Public K-12 school security, child labor, swatting and a cost of living increase for state employees.
In 2025, there are plenty of new laws that are set to be introduced for the state of Alabama.
According to Legiscan, there are close to 80 new laws set to be introduced during the legislative session. The topics include gambling, abortion and more.

Law Enforcement Demanding Date of Birth
This bill would also make it a crime to give a false date of birth to a law enforcement officer in the course of the officer's official duties with the intent to mislead the officer.
Gambling
This bill would clarify that certain coin-operated amusement machines are not gambling devices. The bill would further provide for the seizure of unlawful gambling machines and property used to commit a violation of the gambling laws.
This bill would provide for the revocation of certain licenses and permits issued by the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board for a violation of the gambling laws.
Body Cams
This bill would require the agency to periodically reassess the withholding and notify the requestor of the status of the disclosure, including the specific basis for the withholding.
Under no circumstances may a disclosure be delayed more than six months from the date of the request.
Pistol Conversion
This bill would prohibit persons from possessing a pistol with a part or combination of parts designed or intended to covert a pistol into a machine gun installed on or attached to the pistol.
This bill would also provide criminal penalties for violations.
Abortion
This bill would authorize an abortion necessary to preserve the health of the unborn child's mother. This bill would authorize an abortion if the pregnancy results from rape or incest.
Breastfeeding
This bill would create a state law requiring an employer to provide a location and reasonable break time for an employee to express breast milk.
Juneteenth
This bill would add Juneteenth as a state holiday. It would also delete duplicative language and make nonsubstantive, technical revisions to update the existing code language to current style.
