The volunteers at the Mt. Olive Fire Protection District are having a fish fry and Lemonade Day stand to raise money for a community safe room.

Cindy Smith the secretary and volunteer of the Coker fire department is in the running for a FEMA grant to also help make the safe room happen. I also hear Stan Acker and the County Commissioner has made a $35,000 donation towards the cause. That's fantastic!

The whole idea of the safe room comes Fire Chief Mike Michalski who has served the area for over 32 years. Unfortunately he passed away this past October. Now, the others have come together to keep pushing forward with this dream.

On Saturday (June 18) everyone is invited to a fish fry. The cost of the tickets are $9.00 a plate. The plates include Fish,Fires,Hush Puppies,Cole Slaw, Bake Beans, Dessert, Tea. You can dine in or carry your plates home. Also, there will be an official Lemonade Day stand set up. Cindy says it will be her daughter, Brianna running the stand. Stop by and say hi.
