Tuscaloosa has some exciting events this summer and one of them kicks off this Saturday night. It is the return of "Movies At The Park" at Government Plaza on several Saturday nights in June and July.

The movies will begin at dusk and are shown on a giant HD screen. Every seat is really a good seat. Families are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for everyone in their group. Coolers are also allowed.

In addition to the movies, local vendors will be selling snacks and drinks before and during the event.

The first film is "Homeward Bound" starring Michael J. Fox and Sally Field. It's a great family movie about a fun-loving dog, a very humorous cat, and a wise, old Golden Retriever as they embark on a very entertaining journey.

Some of the other films on the slate:

June 10-"The Lion King", a true family classic.

June 17-"Remember The Titans", one of the better football movies ever made and it is a true story.

June 24-"Akeelah & The Bee", the award-winning film about a young girl trying to make it to the National Spelling Bee.

July 1-"Clifford The Big Red Dog", the film adaptation of the wildly-popular kid's show.

July 8-"Ferris Bueller's Day Off", another true classic that every student will enjoy.
