Winter weather is expected for those in places in the far northern portion of the storm system. For example, “Saint Louis and Chicago, you could be looking at some snow rain snow sleet mix for your weekend,” said The Weather Channel.

Furthermore, the system's intense rainfall may affect areas ranging from Kentucky to Georgia and extend towards the Carolinas. Additionally, there is a risk of flash flooding occurring.

What Does This Mean for the South and Alabama?

Part of the overall storm system includes the southern region. As the storm tracks east, it will cover eastern Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas, then it should track into Mississippi, with the potential for damaging winds, hail, and the threat of tornadoes.

The big question this far in advance of the storm system is how it will impact Alabama. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has introduced the risk of severe storms across Western Central Alabama.

“The main window for the heavier storms will come from about 9:00 Saturday night through 6:00 a.m. Sunday. Rain amounts of 1-2 inches are likely statewide,” said James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist.
