I guess everyone wants to be a millionaire. The closest some of us will ever get is to chow down on my Mama's million dollar spaghetti. Your family will love it!

My mama was a great southern cook. She was taught by her mama, who was taught by her mama. That’s the way we do it down south. One of my most favorite meals was always mama’s million dollar spaghetti. Yes, it truly tasted like a million dollars.

I thought I would honor the memory of my mama by sharing her recipe with you.

Ingredients:

kosher salt

1 pound of spaghetti

two large eggs lightly beaten

eight ounces of cream cheese, soften at room temp

finely grated fresh Parmesan, half cup

2/3 cup of cottage cheese

tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

half an onion chopped

pound of ground beef

freshly ground black pepper

pound oregano

32 ounces of marinara

2 cups of shredded mozzarella

freshly chopped parsley for garnish

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350. In a large pot of salted boiling water cook spaghetti about 8 minutes, drain and return to pot, add eggs, cream cheese, parmesan and cottage cheese. Mix until the pasta is evenly coated in the egg, cheese mixture. Transfer mixture to a large baking dish. Heat the sauce in a medium saucepan over medium heat, heat olive oil, add onion and cook until tender, about five minutes. Add beef and cook until no longer pink, about six minutes. Drain fat and season with salt, pepper and oregano. Add marinara and bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for five minutes. Spread the sauce over the noodles in a baking dish. Then cover with mozzarella. Bake until cheese is melted and starting to turn golden on top, about 30 minutes. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Your family will go nuts over this dish. This dish is a cross between lasagna and spaghetti.

The best of both.  Your family will  truly love it.
