Mayor Walt Maddox Reports 14 Arrests & Pepper Spray Used On The S

Mayor Walt Maddox told the Steve Shannon Morning Show that he understood the mindset leading to thousands of Bama fans celebrating the Bama football championship on the Tuscaloosa Strip last night. The mayor said after about an hour police began to clear the streets.

Maddox said there were 14 arrests and damage reported to buildings. The Mayor confirmed that a small amount of pepper spray was used to control the unruly.

Mayor Maddox expressed concern regarding covid exposure for the thousands gathered in a two block area on the Strip.

National media also picked up the celebration story. Maddox has concerns about the impact that could have on the image of Tuscaloosa and future economic
