Former Crimson Tide wideout and current Texans target John Metchie III officially made his rookie minicamp debut for his brand new team.

Metchie's debut came the same day of the rookie inking his first NFL contract, signing a four-year deal worth just over $8 million with a $3 million signing bonus.

In a video clip shared by Daniel Gotera of KHOU-TV, the former four-star can be seen going through a few drills in his new threads, sporting No. 88. Most notably, in the video, Metchie is seen without any sort of knee brace, indicating his recovery must be going extremely well.

Houston selected the Canadian native with the 44th overall selection in this year's draft, looking to provide a reliable option for their young quarterback, Davis Mills.

In three years at Alabama, Metchie compiled an impressive stat line and was one of the team's top receiving threats. From 2019-2021, he hauled in over 150 receptions for 2,081 yards and 14 scores, collecting the majority of it in his final season.

Despite suffering a torn ACL in the 2021 SEC championship game that would sideline him for Alabama's appearance in the College Football Playoff, Metchie looks to be ready to go for his rookie season.

While the Texans certainly have some options outside of Metchie at wide receiver, expect the rookie to have a huge impact in his first year, as his skillset should translate extremely well to the NFL.

A physical, sure-handed target is something that every team in the league is looking for and Metchie gives Houston exactly that.
