The University of Texas hired former Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian as its new head coach and all eyes turn to who else on the Crimson Tide staff may join him in Austin. According to ESPN's Ian Fitzsimmons, offensive line coach Kyle Flood will join the Longhorns as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Flood came to the Capstone in 2019 after serving as assistant offensive line coach for the Atlanta Falcons. In 2020 his unit took home the Joe Moore Award given to the nation's top offensive line and in 2019 his unit was named a finalist for the award but did not win.

Under Flood's direction in 2020, Landon Dickerson won the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation's top center and Alex Leatherwood won the Outland Trophy, given to the nation's top lineman.

He oversaw Jedrick Wills in his final season with the Crimson Tide as he was drafted 10th overall by the Cleveland Browns in the 2019 NFL Draft. His 2020 offensive line could see three of its members drafted in Leatherwood, Dickerson and Brown.

Flood was instrumental on the recruiting trail as the Crimson Tide has compiled one of the most highly touted offensive line classes ever recorded in its 2021 class. The class includes the top two rated tackles in the nation, the top rated center in the country and two guards both ranked in the top 14 in their positions.

While Sarkisian has said he will call plays for the Texas Longhorns, the title of offensive coordinator will belong to Flood. Expect the tandem to work together to revitalize the program and compete for the Big 12 championship in the near future.
