My husband Perry didn't want me to use his shop in the future for my projects. My crimes were numerous, but included was the way I returned his tools to their original location as well as the use of spray paint in any capacity.

His announcement that I would get my own workshop was not an unwelcome one. I didn't like his organization strategy and he didn't appreciate mine, so I quickly agreed that if he would make space available to me, I would refrain from using his shop in the future.

His father had an empty metal building so Perry contacted Dwyane's Towing and made arrangements to tow the structure across town from Cottondale to Northport.

I waited in patient silence as he commissioned our friend Kameron Thrasher to add wooden siding to the exterior and build a deck so I could have 'girl talk' with my friends while my 'spray-painted stuff' dried. I watched from the wings without interfering after he pulled our builders off home renovations to paint the outside then install insulation and paneling to the walls inside.

Finally, the shop was turned over to me and I got to work digging out boxes to unpack the nick-knacks and memories I've collected over the years.

I unearthed the hidden power tools (with cords) I began quietly acquiring last year after I decided I didn't want to hear 'I can't hang that __________ up now because the battery for my drill needs to charge,' anymore.

It's not finished yet, but I wanted to give you a sneak peek.

As much fun as he is to pick at, I am grateful beyond words that Perry went to the trouble and expense to give me such an amazing space that gives me a creative outlet.

Honey, you're welcome to use my shop anytime you want!

THANK YOU!
