City leaders will consider an incentives package to draw a popular Livingston steakhouse here to Tuscaloosa County on Highway 43 in Northport.

Northport City Council President Jeff Hogg shared the news on social media Sunday morning and said in his capacity as chair of the council's retail committee, he and fellow council member Christie Bobo have been in talks to draw Diamond Jim's & Mrs. Donna's Steakhouse to the city.

Hogg did not say what incentives the city is considering, but said a public hearing to hear citizen's input and discuss the matter with the whole council will be held next month, on October 2nd.

"Most of you know Diamond Jim’s Steakhouse through their original location in Livingston, AL," Hogg wrote. "They offer a wide variety of hand-cut steak options as well as seafood including but not limited to Filet Mignon, New York Strip, Ribeye, Crab Claws, Oysters, Shrimp, Catfish, Crab Legs, Scallops, Stuffed Crab and their “Catch of the Day,” along with a full bar for adult beverages. "

If all parties can come to an agreement and the steakhouse comes to Northport, it is planned for a site on Highway 43 across from the new Los Torascos Mexican restaurant that opened there recently.
