Alabama coach Nick Saban had a pair of media availabilities Wednesday, the same day he was named to the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Watch List. First he spent a few mid-day minutes on the SEC coaches conference call. Then, following practice, he talked to the local media at the Mal Moore building. Here's a look at some of the more interesting things Saban said on Hump Day.

On the health of Star Malachi Moore and tight end C.J. Dippre

"Both guys practiced, so I think if they continue to progress like they have, they've got a good chance to play. But nobody can predict that right now."

On the injury recovery for guard Terrence Ferguson

"I think he's closer to 100 percent this week than he has been. Those high-ankle sprains are not easy to get over."

On the mental toughness required this time of year

"This is the hump time of the season. You've either got the mental toughness to be able to sustain it and get over the hump or you don't."

On Jalen Hurts/Tua Tagovailoa's matchup Sunday in the NFL

"The psychological support that they gave each other in every circumstance is something that I think is really, really special."

On victory cigars
"I don't smoke, I just chew on one for a little bit.
"I think games like this that have sort of special innuendos that go with them — it's probably good for the players' relationships with each other."
On Jalen Milroe
"I think he has a better understanding of the expectation for him. I think that he has developed a lot more confidence. He has to continue to grow and develop. Nobody can play perfect — there's going to be some bumps in the road."
