Damion Square, the newest member of the Crimson Tide Sports Network and sideline reporter, joined the Gary Harris Show this morning.

A Houstanian native was a four-star coming out of Yates High School. During his time at Alabama, Square won three national championships in 2009, 2011, and 2012. Over his collegiate career, Square had 44 solo tackles, 93 total tackles, and 7.5 sacks.

Square went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft, but the Philadelphia Eagles signed him as a free agent.

Square played for the Kansas City Chiefs, San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, Chicago Bears, and Las Vegas Raiders. Square has 100 games, 73 solo tackles, 56 assisted tackles, and 20 quarterback hits.

Last year, Square signed a 1-day contract to retire with the Chargers. Square told the media how he felt to retire with the team.

"It means so much to me. When I got to [the Chargers], at that time in my career I was being passed around as a football player. I had just left the Eagles and Kansas City for my second season and then I go to the Chargers all in the same season, so I'm on my third team in one year. Nothing was feeling like home, I'm trying to figure it out," said Square.

During the show, Square gave a few insights about his career and where he is now.

Harris asked Square to reflect on his career in college and the NFL.

"Man, that still makes me emotional because, truthfully, I feel like I wasn't worthy. I definitely had to grind and take everything because it definitely didn't have anything set for me," said Square.

Square revealed what his life has been like since his retirement from the NFL.

"We have been into real estate, flipping some homes. Just helping out with kids, man. I try to put myself in a situation to help young athletes, period. Especially the ones that want to take it to the highest level. I would travel to different local universities and work with some of their younger guys who were struggling with schedules or just the whole routine of being a young athlete," said Square.

Harris asked Square if it's easier now that his brother-in-law, Robbie Ashford, has transferred from Auburn to South Carolina.

"It's so much easier. We gave him so much hell at Auburn the time he was there. Of course we had to support him because I've been knowing that kid since kindergarten. I took it as an honor to be me because he has followed me his whole time. It was very important for me to become something because I knew I had that little guy right behind me," said Square.

Square explained how he learned about Damien Harris joining CBS Sports, which eventually led to him becoming the sideline reporter for the Crimson Tide Sports Network.

"The crazy thing is I was in Houston and I got a few messages from some fans—people that's really close to me keep up with the blogs. Throughout my career doing interviews, people would always say, "I think you would be good at broadcasting; I think that's your future," said Square.

"I've always liked having a mic and talking sports. Just sitting down while going back and forth with anybody that loves sports as much as me, but I did not know how fast the opportunity was going to come," said Square.
