Brady Cook Expected to Try to Play Against Alabama
Earlier in the week, it was reported that Missouri starting quarterback Brady Cook was unlikely to play against Alabama this Saturday as the Crimson Tide take on the Tigers in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Missouri starting running back Nate Noel is still expected to miss the game against Alabama.
A new update on Cook has been revealed, with the Missouri signal caller expected to be upgraded from "doubtful" to "questionable" on the SEC's Friday injury report in an effort to ramp up to play against Alabama on Saturday.
Pete Thamel continued his report, stating "Cook didn’t do anything active in practice this week. If he’s able to play, he’s not expected to be 100 percent because of his injured ankle."
Cook left Missouri's 21-17 victory over Auburn last week with an ankle injury and left the stadium to go get imaging on his ankle at a local hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Cook warmed back up in the indoor practice facility before returning to the game in the fourth quarter to deliver a second-half comeback for the Tigers.
If Cook can not go or is limited against Alabama, transfer quarterback Drew Pyne will step in at quarterback. Pyne started his college career at Notre Dame, with another stop at Arizona State before arriving at Missouri in the 2024 transfer portal. Pyne has started 11 games in his college career.
Cook has started 34 straight games for Missouri, including every game in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, as well as every game so far this season.
In 2024, Cook has completed 63.1% of his passes for 1,545 yards and seven touchdowns. Cook has only thrown one interception this season.
Cook has also added 117 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in 2024.
