Before arriving in Tuscaloosa, Karly Weathers built one of the most decorated prep careers in the state of Tennessee. A four-year varsity starter at Loretto High School under head coach Ashley Rutledge, Weathers was named the 2022 Class 2A Miss Tennessee Basketball and Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year after a dominant senior season in which she averaged 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 4.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game while leading her team to a 28–2 record.

She eclipsed the 2,000-point mark during her final year and earned multiple all-state honors, including Class A Miss Tennessee Basketball in 2021 and four Tennessee Class A/2A First Team selections. Ranked No. 83 nationally in the Class of 2022, Weathers also competed with the Alabama Southern Starz on the AAU circuit and was a multi-sport standout, earning all-state recognition in volleyball and helping her team reach the 2020 state runner-up finish.

Weathers made an immediate impact upon joining Alabama in 2022–23, appearing in 27 games and showcasing her versatility early. She scored 15 points on 80 percent shooting in her collegiate debut against Alabama A&M and delivered a breakout performance later that season with 21 points, six rebounds and three steals against North Florida. Throughout her freshman year, she flashed her perimeter shooting and defensive instincts, earning SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Dec. 28.

Her role expanded during the 2023–24 season, as she played in all 34 games and made four starts. Weathers recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a road win at Arkansas and delivered one of her biggest moments on the national stage, scoring 18 points with five rebounds and five steals in Alabama’s NCAA Tournament victory over Florida State. She finished fourth on the team in rebounding with 132 boards and recorded at least five rebounds in 17 contests.

By the 2024–25 season, Weathers had developed into a full-time starter and one of Alabama’s most reliable two-way players. She started all 33 games, averaging 33.2 minutes per contest and improving her scoring average to 7.2 points per game. She posted a season-high 19 points, including five three-pointers, in a win over Arkansas and recorded a career-high 10 assists in the SEC Tournament against Florida.

Known for her defensive presence, Weathers led the Crimson Tide with 59 steals (1.8 per game), tied a career-high with five steals twice, and was one of only two Alabama players to surpass 1,000 minutes on the season. Her consistency in the classroom also earned her recognition on the 2024 CSC Academic All-District Team.

While her growth on the court has been steady, Weathers’ impact off the floor has been just as significant. The Tennessee native has been a constant presence on campus and throughout the Tuscaloosa community and is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing. In her final two semesters alone, she completed 279 hours of community service.

As a nursing major, much of her time has been spent volunteering at DCH Regional Medical Center, and she has helped organize annual team visits to the Manderson Cancer Center to spend time with patients undergoing treatment. Weathers has also served the West Alabama Food Bank, packing delivery-ready boxes for families across the region, and volunteered at Capstone Village, an assisted living facility on campus where she regularly visits residents.

In addition, she has participated in Alabama Athletics’ Halloween Extravaganza each of the past four years, helping create a memorable trick-or-treat experience for families throughout the Tuscaloosa area. Together, her leadership on the court, commitment in the classroom and dedication to serving others reflect the well-rounded impact Weathers has made throughout her time at Alabama.

This year marks the 28th year for the SEC Community Service Team for women's basketball. Since 2004, all league-sponsored sports have had a Community Service Team, with men's and women's at large teams selected between 1999 and 2003.
