On December 7th of this year I will participate in the St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon for the third straight year and this time I'm serious!

Each year I look forward to the opening day of registration for this race. My training has already started, preparing my body and mind for over 2 hours of nothing but running. The pain is evident in every step after mile one, but around about mile four or five, we run through the St. Jude campus and are met with screams of encouragement from patients, parents and doctors and you can feel the arms of those little angels lift you up, sooth your sore muscles and guide you toward the finish line. One of the most amazing feelings I've ever felt.

This year my run will be somewhat different because I've signed up to be, not just a St. Jude Hero, but a St. Jude 'Gold' Hero. I have pledged to raise $2,500 for the children of St. Jude. It's a hefty amount I know but I think I can do it and have the hair to prove it.

If I can raise $2,500, I will shave my head. Even better, I'll shave it while on the radio with Madison & Shepherd and video the whole thing! If I surpass that amount, I'll do something else drastic! Maybe shave my beard or maybe I'll just let you decide what I do if I can raise $5,000!

Regardless, the money goes straight to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and helps to pay the $1.8 million it takes to keep their doors open for one day! My goal is to run until cancer is eradicated and no child ever worries about if they'll live to see tomorrow.
