GoFundMe Account Started for Tuscaloosa Woman Attacked with Hammer
On Monday evening, a 53-year-old woman was robbed and attacked with a hammer while loading groceries into her car at the Winn-Dixie at Five Points.
Co-workers of Tammy Haygood at Tidmore Veterinary Hospital have created a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for her. The goal is set at $10,000, which will help her family while she's unable to work. Here's the campaign's description:
One of our employees and her daughter were shopping at the Winn Dixie in 5pts/Cottondale Alabama. The mother was putting in the groceries in the car when a man came up and assaulted her in the head with a hammer multiple times. She sustained severe facial and eye injuries and will require multiple surgeries. She is the main provider for her family and will be unable to work for an extended amount of time. We are trying to raise money to help them stay on their feet during this hard time.
At the time of this story, people have already donated nearly 25% of the money they are hoping to raise.
Tidmore Veterinary Hospital shared this message on Facebook shortly after the attack.
Tuscaloosa Police have already arrested 36-year-old Reginald Lee Aaron and also charged him with two other violent robberies that happened within the last week. His bond was set at $120,000 and he was being held at the Tuscaloosa County Jail on Tuesday night.
