Tuscaloosa Public Library’s Weaver Bolden Branch is gearing up to celebrate National Grandparents Day in collaboration with local author and educator Dr. Shante’ Morton.

The special celebration will take place on September 6, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Weaver Bolden Branch, located at 2522 Lanier Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.

Morton will be reading from her children’s book, What Will Nicole Be? In addition, “to encourage literacy and family engagement, the first 25 families in attendance will receive a free copy of What Will Nicole Be?,” said the press release.

This event is free, and the entire community is welcome to enjoy the festivities. Families are encouraged to come early to reserve a spot and enjoy all the activities.

Along with the book reading, the celebration will feature interactive career dress-up stations, journaling activities, and keepsake crafts, all designed to foster family connections and create lasting memories between grandparents and grandchildren.

“I am thrilled to share this special day with grandparents and their grandchildren,” said Morton. “National Grandparents Day is a beautiful reminder of the wisdom, love, and joy grandparents bring into our lives, and I am honored to celebrate with them through reading and creative activities.”
